The Rail Corridor along Bukit Timah has been revamped and boasts a new eatery, 1932 Story Cafe which opened on 1 July 2022. Enclosed in a red-brick building, the cafe is surrounded by luscious greenery and the out-of-use railway tracks.

The quaint cottage-looking cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating, for those who want to enjoy the beautiful scenery or get a respite from the heat of the sun.

Upon stepping into 1932 Story Cafe, the air-condition was much welcomed, and my companion and I took a seat at a table. The interior paid homage to the area’s past with a table that was tastefully designed to resemble a train station’s ticket booth.

As we just had lunch, we opted for some desserts. To order at 1932 Story Cafe, one has to scan the QR code on the table which brings you to a website where payment is made too. For iPhone users, ApplePay is also an option.

It was a sweltering hot day so we ordered Double Scoop Ice Cream – Premium (S$8.20), with Coffee Biscoff and Milk & Honey flavours. It came with the cutest spoons ever, designed to be able to stay on the side of the bowl without falling.

Coffee Biscoff had a strong coffee flavour, which was to my liking. It was not bitter at all and was pleasantly sweet. There was a very light hint of Biscoff, almost unnoticeable. Within the ice cream, there were some Biscoff cookie crumbs that added a nice crumbly texture to the otherwise smooth ice cream.

Milk & Honey simply tasted sweet, and it was hard to taste any milk or honey flavours. Interestingly, there were swirls of butterscotch within which was unexpected.

Biscoff Croissant (S$3.50) was slightly underwhelming, with Biscoff crumbs, half a Biscoff biscuit and Biscoff spread over a plain croissant. It would have been better if the Biscoff biscuits were baked into the dough. The croissant was also on the denser side.

While the desserts left much to be desired, the mains served to customers around me looked scrumptious. I will definitely come back to give 1932 Story Cafe’s mains a try and also to bask again in the ambience that this special cafe has.
