Here’s a reason for you to travel down to town for your BreadTalk fix: their new outlet in ION Orchard boasts a variety of outlet exclusives that you can’t find in other stores.

Taking over the space previously occupied by Bread Society, BreadTalk’s new ION Orchard outlet, which opened on 13 May 2022, has a sleek, spacious design with display cabinets proudly showing off its brand new creations.

With BreadTalk being famous for their floss buns, it’s no surprise that they’ve brought back popular limited Flosss flavours: Wasabi Flosss (S$2.30), filled with wasabi egg cream and topped with seaweed floss, Cereal Flosss (S$2.30), which is inspired by cereal prawns, and Coconut Flosss (S$2.30), filled with custard cream and kaya.

A brand new creation making its debut at the ION Orchard outlet in the Flosss series is Curry Flosss (S$2.30), topped with curry leaves and curry powder.

I tried three out of four of BreadTalk ION’s unique Flosss buns, and the Wasabi Flosss surprised me the most with a very light yet evident wasabi kick. It wasn’t too overwhelming, yet was full of flavour.

Another series of bakes that caught my eye when I was at BreadTalk’s new outlet was their line of freshly-baked muffins (S$3.80 each, $7 for two) including flavours like Hojicha, Earl Grey, Choconana and PB Choco.

I tried the Choconana and PB Choco muffins, which were cakey in texture, yet moist and rich in cocoa flavour. The Choconana muffin came with soft, sweet banana filling, while the PB Choco muffin delighted me with its oozy, sweet and salty peanut butter centre.

Other exclusive bakes to look forward to include the Japanese-inspired Dozo Buns (S$2.20 each) in three variations: Curry Chicky, Sardine and Mushroom.

For a more filling meal, try BreadTalk ION’s hot-off-the-press Sarnies (S$5.50 each), including hearty sandwiches like the Curry Chicken Panini, Moshi Mushroom Panini and Ham Croissant Sandwich. Customers can request for their sarnies to be either heated up in a sandwich press or in the oven in the store.

A lighter option would be the Sesame Shio Pan and Nori Shio Pan (S$1.70 each, S$4.60 for three), which are topped with seaweed powder and black and white sesame seeds respectively. Despite their simple appearance, I was blown away by the flavourful umami taste of these shio pans.

Finally, have a rustic loaf of bread with BreadTalk ION’s European-style breads, like the Chocolate Loaf (S$9) and the Berry Walnut Loaf (S$9).

Though BreadTalk outlets have dominated every corner of the country, the extensive range of exclusive bakes available only at ION Orchard certainly makes it worth the travel down.
