10 places to feast at Clarke Quay Central before your next big night out

The bustling Clarke Quay is the go-to spot to enjoy Singapore’s vibrant night life and drinking culture. Though most people instantly think of the Boat Quay area when picturing this iconic part of the country, I’ve always enjoyed strolling around the malls in its vicinity, with Clarke Quay Central being the most notable mall in the area.

Clarke Quay Central is connected directly to Clarke Quay MRT, making your dining and shopping experience extra convenient. Plus, if the noise and heat in Boat Quay is too much for you, Clarke Quay Central offers the perfect respite to cool down and enjoy some good food.

Heading to Clarke Quay for your next drinking session? Here are 10 spots to check out in Clarke Quay Central before your big night out.

1. Bones ‘n Slaw (#02-82/83)

clarke quay central listicle - bones n slaw

Bones ‘n Slaw may be a little hard to come across in Clarke Quay Central, given how it is tucked away in a corner on the second floor of the Blue Zone, but once you enter, you’ll be greeted by a stunning view overlooking the Singapore River.

This cozy restaurant offers Western dishes at reasonable prices, with a wide variety of items to choose from.

Dig into the huge Deep Fried Spring Chicken (Whole) (S$28.90), which was crispy on the outside and had a nice marination. The chicken meat was a little tough, but the fries beneath were crisp and absolutely glorious.

Other options would be the 12 Hours Sous Vide Pork Rack (S$26.90), which consists of 3 pork ribs coated in a sweet umami sauce, and the French Style Chicken Stew (S$18.90), a creamy and fragrant dish containing large, tender pieces of chopped chicken.

Steak lovers can go for the Australian Ribeye Grain Fed (250g) (S$45.90), complete with baby potatoes and spinach. The steak was cooked nicely to medium rare and was incredibly juicy and meaty. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the side of spinach, which was creamy and rich in flavour.

The Truffle Carbonara Linguine (S$20.90) was unanimously our favourite dish, as it was incredibly creamy and thick. The onsen egg topping the dish was perfectly cooked, and the linguine had been generously coated in a deliciously indulgent carbonara sauce. The truffle aroma was evident yet not artificial or overpowering, and I’d definitely return for this again.

Enjoy a sweet treat with Bones ‘n Slaw’s desserts, like the Homemade Creme Brulee (S$7.90), a delicious tart filled with warm and gooey creme brulee and topped with nuts, fruit and crumble. Alcohol lovers will be sure to enjoy the Homemade Tiramisu (S$11.90), which had a strong alcohol taste permeating through the entire dessert.

Take for example, the vibrantly coloured Cheezy OmniMeat Pizza (S$21.90), topped with minced OmniMeat toona, cherry tomatoes, green capsicum, tomato sauce and dried Italian herbs — each bite was bright and flavourful, with plenty of juicy tang from the tomatoes. The Truffled Mushroom Pasta (S$14.90) was another satisfying dish with a light and fragrant truffle aroma and addictive light savoury taste.

My favourite dish was undoubtedly the Toon Rendang Rice (S$11.90), a vegan twist on the popular local dish. The rendang curry was incredibly aromatic with the most intoxicating fragrance and taste. I couldn’t get enough, and honestly, I preferred this over regular rendang!

We tried the Lion’s Xtreme Burger (S$15.30), made with lion’s mane mushroom patty, truffle mayo, sauteed white button mushrooms, vegan cheese, tomatoes and coral lettuce. The mushroom patty was chewy with a unique meat-like texture, and all the elements of the burger made this dish a complete flavour burst.
