With the influx of Italian restaurants opening up around town, one of the notable ones to look out for is LUCE by Davide Giacomelli, located in InterContinental Singapore. Having opened on 20 May 2022, they are taking a bistronomic (a blend of bistro and gastronomic) approach to Italian cuisine, determined to make a mark on Singapore’s palette.

LUCE, meaning ‘light’ in Italian, aims to shine a light on the fresh produce they use, as well as the artistry behind each dish.

A picture of Acquerello Lobster dish

Credit – LUCEThe Acquerello Lobster (S$46) is a risotto-esque dish, which is made up of carnaroli rice cooked in lobster stock and chervil. Topped with numerous chunks of succulent lobster meat, the slightly hefty price-tag attached to it seems reasonable. Seafood lovers will definitely enjoy this dish.

LUCE also has affordable set lunches available.

Customers will have a choice between a 2-course (S$34) or 3-course (S$40) set, which feature mains that are not found in their regular a la carte menu.

For every course, customers have a choice between two dishes. These include mains such as Maltagliati Stracotto d’ Agnello, which is fresh homemade pasta with lamb ragout, and Barramundi Zucchini Tapenade with Citron Confit, which comes with pan-fried barramundi with zucchini a la plancha and olives.

Additionally, wine pairing can be added on with each course, with varying prices.

Feeling parched from the meals? One can order from LUCE’s uniquely crafted cocktails, which includes Aperopolitan (S$22), LUCE’s take on a Cosmopolitan which has Skyy Neptune vodka, Aperol, Campari and lemon. They also serve the signature InterContinental Negroni (S$28) which consists of oak barrel aged botanist gin, red and white vermouth, jasmine tea, Campari and bitters.

With global chef Davide Giacomelli having stints across several Michelin-starred restaurants, one is inclined to try out this restaurant which serves authentic Italian cuisine. Being an Italian cuisine enthusiast, this may turn out to be one of my favourite Italian restaurants in Singapore.
