Marina Bay Sands is well-known to tourists and locals alike. With tons of shopping, food and entertainment options, there is little wonder why the place is constantly packed. Adding on to this all-in-one hub, Marina Bay Sands has launched their first flagship cafe, SweetSpot.

Located at the ArtScience Museum, this family-friendly cafe even includes a kids’ corner with games and activities just for them.

Sweetspot 1

Designed with huge glass panels for natural sunlight, visitors can bask in the scenic waterfront whilst enjoying the premium food and drink selection.

Sweetspot 4

The DIY Salad selection was wider than I expected, with over 30 different options.

Sweetspot 2

One thing that really stood out to me was how most of the options were either cooked dishes prepared in-house or premium items such as tri-coloured carrots and heirloom tomatoes, with no extra charge.

Sweetspot 3

Each DIY Salad Bowl/Wrap (S$16) consists of a choice of salad greens, organic grains, compound salad, antipasti, three cooked vegetables, two toppings and dressing.

Sweetspot 5

For a more protein-packed meal, there is also an option to add on cooked proteins (S$2 per serving) too. The cooked proteins are always on rotation, so you never know what you will get when you visit SweetSpot.

Sweetspot 12

I must say, it was a hefty bowl filled to the brim, and not just plain vegetables. It was both hearty and filling, with delicious ingredients for loads of flavour. If all salads were like this, I would have no qualms about eating healthy.

They also offer some nutrient-packed smoothies, which were absolutely delightful.

Sweetspot 10

We went for the Nutty Banana (S$10) based on staff recommendations. A blend of banana, walnuts, almond milk, dates, cinnamon, sea salt and chia seeds, this was an appetising drink. The most dominant flavour was from the cinnamon, complemented with sweetness from the dates and banana.

Sweetspot 9

We also got the Avocado Glow (S$10), with avocado, banana, mango, spinach, dates and soy milk in it. Surprisingly, the mango flavour stood out the most, making it very refreshing. The addition of avocado and soy milk gave it a richer touch of creaminess as well.

Sweetspot 6

Did you know that Sweetspot has the first-ever commercial robotic barista? As a coffee lover, I had to give it a go.

It was pretty amazing to see how the robot was able to make any kind of customised order.

Sweetspot 7

From start to the end, the robot prepared our cup of Cappuccino With Skim Milk (S$6) seamlessly. Your name would appear on the panel with your order for greater accuracy.

The coffee itself was good too, with full-bodied flavour from the roasted beans and a touch of richness from the milk.

Sweetspot 13

To end our meal, we had to get some desserts. We decided to go for the Coconut Banana Tart (S$9) and a Vegan Carrot Crumble Cake (S$9). The latter was alright, moist and dense with distinct spices typical of a carrot cake.

I just felt it was missing an element to it, perhaps the iconic cream cheese which is unfortunately not vegan.

Sweetspot 11

However, the Coconut Banana Tart definitely made up for it. My dining partner and I both agreed that the tart was the best we’ve ever eaten, with soft, rich and sweet caramelised banana slices.

Sweetspot 14

The banana gave the pie some varying texture, in contrast with the crunchy tart. The tart had a tropical vibe to it, which can also be paired with a scoop of Frozen Yoghurt Soft Serve (S$1.50).

While SweetSpot is a pretty new addition to the slew of dining options at Marina Bay Sands, there was already a decent crowd when we were there.

The next time I visit Marina Bay Sands, this would be a top dining option on my list.
