The owner, hailing from Anhui, China, was spurred by friends to launch a business in Singapore, fuelled by her own food passion. What’s more, her family’s background in BBQ and food makes it a perfect fit!

The chef originates from Henan but has honed his culinary skills with extensive experience in the kitchens of Chengdu and Chongqing.

Swee Guan Hokkien Mee: Shiok charcoal-fried hokkien mee since 1968 at Geylang

One of their signature dishes include the Roasted Green Pepper with Preserved Eggs (S$8), an appetiser which involves roasting green and red chillies, chopping them up and then using a combination of secret sauces to spoon over the pieces of cut-up century egg.

Slurp up delicious bowls of noodles like the Beef Shank Noodle Soup (S$9) and fiery options like the Sichuan Mala Spicy Dry Noodle (S$7.80) and Chongqing Mala Spicy Noodle Soup (S$7.80).

What’s highly recommended by the owner herself are the Traditional Ground Pot Chicken (S$28), The Golden Pumpkin Slice Beef Soup (S$16) and the Stir Fry Hand Torn Cabbage (S$9); she swears by them.

Don’t miss out on their in-house handmade dumpling selections, including Pork Dumplings with Chilli Oil (S$5.80 for 6 pieces), Pork Dumpling Noodle Soup (S$8), and Pork Dumplings with Chives (S$5.80 for 6 pieces).
