After barely 4 years of operations, popular bubble tea kiosk Xing Fu Tang has permanently closed their last outlet at Northpoint City on 31 Jan 2023.

During their hay day, they had over 8 outlets, spread across the island at locations such as Causeway Point and Hillion Mall.

In a post on Instagram, they explain that their closure was due to the rising costs as well as “certain circumstances”. The post was met with many sad reactions and even a poem awaiting Xing Fu Tang’s possible return in the future.

The closure was long seen coming as they announced its closure 4 days beforehand. It’s interesting to note that their outlets have been slowly closing down since the start of 2022.

Xing Fu Tang is a well-known bubble tea brand in Taiwan. Launched back in 2018, it quickly increased to more than 40 stores by the end of that year, which was why it touted itself as ‘Taiwan No.1’ in its logo. Currently, it has outlets worldwide such as in the United States, France, the United Kingdom and Japan. They are known for their brown sugar boba, which are boba pearls steeped in brown sugar.

They use freshly made boba pearls, which are stir-fried in a wok with natural brown sugar. This process gives the pearls a unique caramel-like and burnt flavour not found in other bubble tea brands.

Before Xing Fu Tang closed, their signature flavours were the Brown Sugar Boba Fresh Milk, Taiwan Milk Tea Brown Sugar Boba and Strawberry Cheesecake Grape Boba. Here’s hoping their return would be sooner than later!
