Popular for the premium ingredients in their dishes, Watanabe Coffee has introduced two new ice cream flavours: Gold Soft Serve and Cotton Candy Soft Serve (S$8.80).

Choose from Vanilla, Matcha or a mix of both for Watanabe Coffee’s Hokkaido soft serve. As a fan of matcha, I simply had to try the Matcha flavour with the atas gold leaf.

Watanabe Coffee uses gold leaves from Kanazawa, Japan. Dazzling and Insta-worthy, my Gold Leaf Soft Serve effortlessly gained the attention of passers-by. However, I wished the soft serve had a richer and more bittersweet matcha flavour.

I also tried the Cotton Candy Soft Serve which had a delightfully powdery consistency, making it feel like snow! I actually prefer this to the matcha soft serve.

The enormous ring of cotton candy around the cone made it look like a witch’s steaming cauldron. It was so huge that I was racing to finish it before the soft serve melted.

So if you want a taste of the atas life, why not splurge a little on the Gold Leaf Soft Serve? The price might be a little steep, but it’ll be worth the extra ‘likes’ on Instagram.
