This grand Chinese New Year Carnival located at Jalan Dedap 14, Johor Jaya — is one of the favourite haunts amongst locals for CNY shopping. I’d say this is the most vibrant and crowded CNY carnival in JB. The carnival takes place  from 19 Jan to 9 Feb 2024, and will operate from 6am to 12am daily. And most importantly, the entrance is free!

The carnival features  50 stalls this year — a variety of bak kwa, CNY cookies, snacks and CNY decorations are being sold at the carnival. Not only that, a food festival will also be hosted when it’s nearing Chinese New Year, which is from 4 Feb to 8 Feb. The operating hours will be 4pm to 12am on 4 Feb and 5 Feb; while from 6 Feb to 8 Feb, it will be open until 1am. You’ll find 30 food trucks at the festival, so come with an empty stomach. Be sure to take a break from shopping fatigue and indulge in some delicious food at the food festival!

To enhance the appeal of the carnival,  the organiser has chosen to organise a “3 days pasar malam” (night market) this year. The pasar malam will be held for 3 consecutive days from 6 to 8 Feb

It’s situated close to the carnival, specifically in the back alley of the Jalan Dedap 13 shop lot. All kinds of food and CNY-related paraphernalia like decorations, firecrackers and hampers  can be found around that area, making it a one-stop shopping destination.

So, don’t miss out on this opportunity for your Chinese New Year shopping!
