I’m not an avid runner. Not by a long shot. It’s probably because I’m the sort who relishes in being cooped up at home with a tub of ice cream in one hand and a spoon in the other. But maybe, just maybe, it could be the lack of proper running gear that makes me so averse to the concept of jogging. Who knows? It could be one or the other. Just don’t call me lazy. Either way, sports shoes deserve a place in everyone’s cupboard, mine included. And catering to this very need is the new Novablast from ASICS.

This is a women’s high-end performance shoe which seeks to appeal to the lifestyle fashion market. Yes, it’s a multi-hyphenate. Behind this Cozy Pink colourway is a long-awaited collaboration between ASICS and Sneakernstuff. For the uninitiated, Sneakernstuff (SNS) is a Swedish sneaker house founded in 1999. Based out of Södermalm, Stockholm, the brand now owns a global chain of apparel shops and retail stores, with more in the works.

Previous sneaker collaborations between SNS and other brands include the ‘Hometown Love’ series with the Adidas Stockholm GT and the Nike Air Tailwind IV in celebration of SNS’s 20th anniversary back in 2019. For this release, in particular, SNS takes the ASICS Novablast silhouette which debuted last year and styling it up with a light pink tan.

All the benefits of the original sneaker are still being kept though. There’s the FLYTEFOAM BLAST midsole which provides enhanced cushioning, as well as an ultra-breathable mesh upper, all packed into a lightweight package. It’s tailored for running, but the design choices here present an enticing option for everyday wear. It’s a clean example of when fashion meets functionality. Of course, the ASICS Novablast isn’t only for women. Male options are available for other colourways of the shoe so that everyone can run in style.

Date & Time: Releases locally on 5 February 2021 at Limited Edt Vault @313Somerset, Limited Edt Queensway, and the Limited Edt website.

Pricing: S$249 for SNS X ASICS Novablast
