For as long as I can remember, this stall has been around since my childhood. And I always  wondered why everyone in my neighbourhood was clamouring over the chicken rice. This was especially the case for the char siew rice, a dish that my father used to buy from this stall. Recently, I found out that this was not a street stall after all. The assumed street stall was located in Puchong and is called Fa Kee Restaurant

One of the few ways to visit Fa Kee Restaurant is to drive to Taman Kinrara or take a bus that stops near the restaurant, and walk over. The eatery opens at 10am but with the massive crowds surrounding the renowned stall, you might have to reach there a bit earlier to eat in (or tapau if you don’t like waiting).

The stall serves the usual chicken rice, but the popular dishes are the Char Siew Rice (RM10) and the Siew Yok and Chicken Rice (RM9.50). The char siew rice is normally served with a plate of fragrant rice. Alongside it, you’ll get a plate filled with chopped-up char siew, complemented with sweet kicap sauce and cucumbers on the side.

The siew yok and chicken rice are served similarly to the char siew rice. But with a key difference: instead of one type of meat, it’s a combination of siew yok and roast chicken. It still retains the cucumber but instead of a sweet kicap sauce, it uses the savoury kind.

So, if you’re craving a plate of char siew rice for breakfast or lunch, this stall is perfect for feasting on a heavy serving of meat and rice. What are you waiting for? Go ahead and take a drive to this stall in Taman Kinrara!
