I wasn’t ready. Not for the track, the speed, the Gs, the skidding, the entire experience. I’ll just come out and say it in paragraph 1: HyperDrive is the most fun I have had on Sentosa in all my life. Anyone who has grown up in Singapore will know that that’s a heck of a statement.

HyperDrive is the latest family attraction to open at The Palawan @ Sentosa. It’s a 3-level air-conditioned indoor go-kart track that allows drivers to reach speeds as high as 50 km/h, throwing themselves around 14 curves in a twisty-turny thrilly adrenaline rush of a race.

With the Singapore F1 race just over 2 weeks away, HyperDrive is giving you the chance for the ultimate racecar experience. Drivers who clock the fastest laps until 10 Sep will get an in-person tour of the Red Bull Racing Garage at the F1 Pit Building during the race weekend.

Best things to do in Singapore this week (25 – 31 Aug 2023)

While F1 racing is a petrolhead’s dream, HyperDrive itself is completely green. Every kart is an eco-friendly electric machine with zero tailpipe emissions. It’s part of efforts at The Palawan @ Sentosa to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030.

The racing will take on an even more thrilling avatar in the coming weeks with a completely gamified on-track race.

Laser beams will project power-ups, bombs and other gifts that drivers can collect and use to accelerate themselves and impede rivals. If you’re more tactician than speed demon, you’ll love this.

Menawhile, HyperDrive Cafe serves enhanced diner favourites that include its signature SweetStacks pancakes, flatbreads and milkshakes. You have to try the milkshakes – they have a consistency and richness more like thickshakes. The café has a capacity of 110 and its 32-metre viewing gallery overlooks the track. Perfect for cheering on your favourites as they tear up the track, it’s already being booked for corporate events and families.

Great food and atmosphere aside, the insane racing experience is what did it for me. I’ll say again – HyperDrive is the most fun I have had on Sentosa in all my life. You have to get a piece of the action before the crowds get too big.
