A short ferry ride, a change of scenery, and perhaps a long lunch by the water? Batam is welcoming a new waterfront destination this December, as Opus Bay begins its phased opening with the promise of leisurely island stays, waterfront dining, and a little retail therapy along the way.

Just 45 minutes by ferry from Singapore, the integrated resort will make its debut with Marina Bay Ferry Cove, its own ferry terminal, and Residence on Opus Bay, home to the 493-room Balmoral Tower hotel. The best part: the hotel is only a 3-minute walk from the terminal — so less walking, more vacationing!

Getting there is as easy as a breeze. The upgraded Marina Bay Ferry Cove will offer direct access to the resort, with ferry connections from Singapore’s HarbourFront and Singapore Cruise Centre. Guests can also look forward to a VIP lounge, dedicated priority lanes, and buggy services to assist with luggage.

Beyond checking into your room, there will be more to explore as the resort develops. Bay Boulevard Marina Promenade, opening in a later phase, is planned to bring together waterfront restaurants, a food hall serving local favourites, specialty boutiques, and a supermarket.

Expect a leisurely mix of shopping and dining, with Indonesian designers, locally crafted souvenirs, and resortwear adding a distinctly island-inspired touch.

For something to get your blood pumping between meals, Opus Bay will also feature 3 padel courts — including one built to competition standards — alongside 4 pickleball courts. Hotel guests will enjoy complimentary access, so you can work up an appetite before settling in for another meal.

While the full line-up of facilities will arrive in stages, Opus Bay is already shaping up to be an appealing addition to Batam’s growing leisure scene. Think an easy island escape without the fuss of a long-haul journey, with the prospect of sea views, unhurried afternoons, and plenty to discover as the resort takes shape.

Planning a year-end getaway? Keep Opus Bay Batam on your radar, and check which facilities are open before making your reservation.
