First Dibs: Celebrate a classic, European-style Christmas at the World Christmas Market Singapore

December is always a school holiday so I usually associate it with fun trips overseas and finding time to hang out with friends and family. As I don’t celebrate Christmas, I didn’t find any reason to attend any Christmas-related events. However, I was tasked to write about the different Christmas events this year which is when I came across the World Christmas Market Singapore.

It was the first of its kind in Singapore, inspired by European Christmas markets. When researching, I discovered so many cool things there like pet play areas and some interesting foods as well. So, when an invite came my way, I hopped on the opportunity.

On 5 Dec, 2 members of our lovely social media team, Dean and Ming Hui, and I headed down to The Promontory at Marina Bay. Our first stop was the food!

Grab Feast Street

We walked down the Grab Feast Street to see what they had to offer. Sadly, they were still preparing the food and most of the stalls only officially opened at 6pm. Nonetheless, they were all very sweet and transparent with us about the wait time so we appreciated it greatly.

Instead, we narrowed down the different foods and drinks we wanted to try first and took a seat by the tables to do some work while waiting.

Et voila! Here’s all the food that we tried.

To start, I got for myself the Red Thai Milk Tea (S$5) and the Chilli Crab Churros (S$8). When I heard about the latter, I was so intrigued and curious about how it tasted. So, we tried it and weren’t disappointed. It was a good savoury dessert with a lot of flavour. There was no actual crab and could be a bit spicier but, overall, it was a good treat.

The stand-outs among the dishes we tried were the Classic Double Burger (S$19.90) and the Crab Mentaiko Sushi Taco (S$10).

Other foods that we got were the Full Cheese Korndog (S$8), Butter Bear (S$10), Sugarcane drink (S$5.50) and Cajun Mac and Cheese (S$16).

Shoutout to Loco Loco, the only Halal stall in the entire place. It is where I got the Chilli Crab Churros and Red Thai Milk Tea. To my Muslim friends, y’all should check them out!

Decor & Gift Bazaar

Once we were done with dinner, we walked around and checked out the entire market. We checked out the gift and Christmas decor stalls. There were many cute knick-knacks, Christmas decorations and beautiful Christmas trees for sale.

The entire event was also pet-friendly with Pet-themed shops and food. There will also be a designated area for kids to play with these dogs.

Shoutout to the adorable Pomeranian-Sheltie hybrid named Hachi! He’s the one pictured on the left and he’s the friendliest little fella. It was truly a pet haven so bring your furry friends along. Cats are welcome too!

Games & Activities

The World Christmas Market Singapore also has a slew of fun activities. You can try your luck with the Labubu Claw Machine. There’s also a mini carnival for kids to enjoy with a huge Gingerbread House Bouncy Castle.

Families can also visit Saint Nicholas’ Village where the kids can meet Santa himself and whisper their wishes for the festive season. You can also capture some fun memories at the Photo Booth and the many photo spots around the market.

Live Entertainment

There are also many live performances for you to check out. Enjoy a live Christmas musical called The Christmas Gift at the event’s main stage, where there will also be great performances by local acts O.K READY!, Reverie, and Jukuleles.

Head down to The Singing Christmas Tree for some classic Christmas carolling from a full choir. Sing along to classic carols and bring in the festive cheer.

Celebrate a Christmas like no other. The World Christmas Market Singapore will be taking place from now until 25 December 2024. The market will open between 5pm and 11pm from Mon to Thu and between 4pm and 11pm from Fri to Sun. Don’t miss out on all the festive fun.
