This is no ordinary fried chicken, this Fire Cracker chicken is specially created by charismatic celebrity Chef Bjorn Shen. If you have been following MasterChef Singapore, you will be no stranger to Chef Bjorn’s unique outlook on cooking which he coined ‘dudestronomy’.
Ever the fried chicken fanatic, Chef Bjorn set out to create a fried chicken flavour that is both fiery and irresistibly tasty.
The Firecracker Chicken is hand brushed with chilli oil and white sesame oil and then coated with a generous dusting of spices such as cumin, Szechuan peppercorn. Do those spices sound familiar? If you’re thinking mala, you’ve got it.
The Firecracker Chicken is 4Fingers’ interpretation of the latest mala craze. Before you bite into it, you can already smell the punchy Szechuan peppercorns permeating the air.
I do love spicy food but have to admit I was slightly intimidated by that vibrant vermillion coating.
Even so, I won’t deny myself some fried chicken. I bit into these crispy wings and the legion of spices hits instantly, with the fragrant cumin being the most prominent.
You definitely get the heat from the Szechuan peppercorns too, a slow addictive burn that makes you reach for the second piece the moment you finish your first one. You just can’t stop at one.
The slight hints of the ‘ma‘ flavour wasn’t too overpowering and is a great introduction to mala for those unfamiliar.
As far as we know, this new menu item will be available at all 4Fingers outlets islandwide throughout the festive Lunar New Year season. Fried chicken and mala, this is certainly gonna be a hot favourite among your relatives.
