Oreos are a classic staple in my childhood; I used to have them every day after school. Even now, Oreos are one of my favourite toppings on frozen yoghurt and ice cream mix-ins.

Sadly, the wide selection of Oreo flavours isn’t always available in Singapore. All we have here are the original Oreos, with simple variations. I was so excited when I saw these new flavours on the shelf. Birthday Party, Strawberry Cheesecake and Choc’O Brownie Oreos? I had to try them out for myself.

Oreos 3

The Birthday Party Oreos (S$2.90) were the ones I was most excited about because I have never gotten to try any birthday-cake-flavoured items. Prying open the sandwich cookie, I was pleased to find little colourful sprinkles in the filling. It also smelt exactly like a birthday cake with a strong sweet vanilla scent.

However, as I tasted it, I was slightly confused. It mentioned caramel filling on the packaging but tasted exactly like the normal sweet creme filling. Nonetheless, it still tasted great and I would still gladly eat a whole bag of it (which I did).

Oreos 2

The Strawberry Cheesecake Oreos (S$2.90) smelt even sweeter than the Birthday Party ones, with a distinct strawberry cheesecake scent. I was pretty impressed with how they nailed all the elements.

There was the sweet strawberry, as well as creaminess from the cheese and the buttery biscuit base. The combination of the crunchy chocolate biscuit and a fragrant strawberry aftertaste was delightful, and it wasn’t as sweet as I expected it to be.

Oreos 1

I did not have high expectations for the Choc’O Brownie Oreos (S$2.90), because of its jelak rich chocolatey smell. However, it was actually light and palatable.

The filling was thicker than usual too, with a slightly cakey texture to it which I enjoyed.

Oreos 4

Although these are definitely much pricier than our usual Oreos, I think that there is a difference in the quality.

The chocolate sandwich biscuits themselves are thicker and crunchier, and tasted fresher. The creme filling also tasted less artificial than the usual.

The Oreos definitely did not let me down and I’m glad I got them. If more variations come to Singapore, I would definitely get them to try!

Dates & Times: Now Available (at selected Cold Storage outlets)
