Dao by Dorsett AMTD Singapore is a business hotel worthy of the description. It’s at the perfect location in the heart of the Central Business District and offers the complete repertoire of amenities you would expect for a business trip or short staycay.

There is easy access to transport as well as an endless array of dining options within the building or a short walk away.

My experience at Dao by Dorsett AMTD Singapore

dao - jaguar

It was quite an exquisite start to the day when I was picked up by a chauffeur-driven Jaguar. Check-in was a breeze with the exclusive Dao+ package.

dao - tea and coffee satchets

This premium package comes with a welcome gift set that includes a Seasonal Fruits Box by Avo & Co., Welcome Snacks by Green Common, a selection of 100% Arabica Coffees from Bacha Coffee and Luxury Tea from TWG Tea.

dao - canapes and cocktails

In the evenings, Dao+ guests enjoy Cocktails & Canapés at The Living Room restaurant before dinner. The day after check-in, they can indulge in an in-room breakfast with Prosecco.

dao - breakfast in room

All guests can opt for a ‘Grab & Go Breakfast’ option designed for busy executives short on time in the morning, too.

dao - bedroom

My One Bedroom Premier Suite on the sixteenth floor (there are seventeen levels) came with a tantalising view of the Marina Bay Wharves on one side.

dao - view from room

Most people would have preferred that view to the city office blocks on the other side, but not me. Looking down upon the long, orderly roads set at 90 degrees between tall, shiny glass buildings, I was reminded of New York City. Very fun!

dao - bathroom

A fully-equipped kitchenette, complete with Nespresso machine; lounge room with comfy sofa and large flatscreen with about 20 channels; and a fairly large bathroom completed the layout. At almost 60 squared metres, it had more than enough space for 2 occupants.

The hotel’s turndown service comes standard with a choice of hot or cold milk (dairy or soy), hot or cold ice Milo, Macaroons (assorted flavours), and Tong Sui (sweet soup).

Dao by Dorsett AMTD Singapore runs a convenient complimentary shuttle service, too. Sightseers will probably jump on the 9am bus that makes a run to Gardens by the Bay and Harbour Front Centre. Shoppers have the option of two services— 11am and 5pm— to  Raffles City Shopping Centre, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, and Vivo City.

You can also take advantage of some unique bespoke services.

The first of these is gym equipment rental. All hotels may have gyms but Dao by Dorsett AMTD lets guests work out with high-quality equipment in their rooms at their convenience, away from the crowd.

dao - plant library

Another of their quirky services is The Rent-a-Plant initiative.

dao - plant

I found it to be an adorable addition to the experience. My Percival was a plant that I cannot name (help, anyone?) and came in a wonderful red ochre-coloured organic pot filled with stones. The catalogue told me he was the son of Roy (whom you can also choose).

I am not saying I’m the best plant mechanic but, as you can see, he was already leaning quite heavily to one side when I received him.

Final thoughts

If rejuvenation is the name of the game, Dao by Dorsett AMTD Singapore is way up near the top of my list of options. Much of the pleasant experience had to do with the wraparound windows that gave me an unobstructed aerial view of the area from my corner suite. Ask for that room if you would love to take in the view of the sea on one side and the city on the other.

dao - plant at window

Their Rent-a Plant concept is cute and such a lovely touch. Despite enjoying just an overnight stay, the little senget fellow grew on me. I don’t understand why more hotels don’t have such an initiative. Hopefully, the idea will catch on.

Some of the staff, such as the chirpy young petite lady virtually singlehandedly manning the F&B front were a delight. Whether it’s to stay in and chill, or take a dip in their rooftop pool, your stay here will be ideal for the recharge I’m sure you need!

Should you make the decision to stay at Dao by Dorsett AMTD Singapore, I strongly recommend getting the Dao+ package. It lets you savour a slew of benefits that would cost a pretty bundle if you were to buy them individually.
