There’s just something incredibly comforting and cosy about dining among foliage and greenery. Surrey Hills Grocer’s latest outlet at VivoCity is a slice of the Australian rainforest that feels like a little piece of haven away from city life.

Located at VivoCity’s outdoor area on level 3, the interior of the restaurant is lush with greenery and plush figures of various Australian wildlife. It is incredibly soothing to be among all this greenery, and the booth-style seats offer plenty of intimacy and privacy.

The restaurant is also pet-friendly, meaning your furry companions can join you for a meal together. (There’s a menu of goodies just for your pet!)

Near the entrance is a selection of Australian groceries, including fresh fruit and produce. There’s a large selection of ST. ALi products, a pioneer of Melbourne’s cafe culture, as well as an assortment of Tony’s Chocolonely chocolate bars and pet treats for your furbabies.

The menu at VivoCity contains a few items that are exclusive to this location.

Surrey hills vivo - hokkien mee pasta

One item is the “Hokkien Mee” (S$26), which is a homage to a local favourite. This rendition combines malfadine pasta with prawn bisque, lard bits, spicy shrimp sambal and grilled prawns, topped off with ikura and grilled kale.

Another exclusive item is the Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza (S$12), featuring ricotta and pepperoni with hot honey on a homemade pizza crust, baked fresh on the spot and served piping hot to the table.

Surrey hills vivo - mee siam capellini

One of the most interesting dishes we tried was the Mee Siam Capellini (S$22) served with tempura squid. While it sounded odd, the dish worked extremely well, and we thoroughly enjoyed this rendition of mee siam.

Surrey hills vivo - date pudding

We must, of course, end our meals on a sweet note. The Sticky Date Pudding (S$16) is served with a little jug of sea salt butterscotch, almond crumble and a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. Drizzle as much butterscotch as you like, and dig in.

And in case you’d like to bring home a slice of heaven with you, Surrey Hills Grocer at VivoCity has its own in-house bakery and pastry shop. It’s hard to resist all these delicious pastries and bakes when they beckon so alluringly behind the glass!
