Chai’s Original Sliced Fish Soup is the place for lunch on a rainy day. A simple bowl of Fried Fish Soup (S$5) and the signature Bittergourd Batang Fish Soup (S$6) are found here.

But if you’re in the mood for a party, various affordable steamboat sets are also offered, ranging from S$6 to S$9. Fresh ingredients dunked in a bubbling pot of soup are one way to chase the blues away!

36 years in the industry is Tiong Bahru Yong Tau Hu‘s medal of honour. With outlets at Enghoon Street, Hillion Mall and Downtown East, you know they’ve got a huge fanbase. The opening of their stall here at Amiba Paradise is planned for 3 Jul.

Soupy yong tau foo (or is it hu?) is, of course, their main attraction. In variations like coconut-y laksa and the classic clear broth, the dishes here are strong contenders for today’s lunch.

A more unique menu item is the Singapore-style Chee Cheong Fun Yong Tau Hu (S$8) where sweet sauce is doused over a myriad of fish cakes and springy rice flour rolls.

The ruby red hue of roasted meats will never fail to whet my appetite. Rong Kee HK Roasted Delights presents these slices of charred meat atop bowls of rice or noodles.

The Signature Triple Rice (S$7.50) is a bang for your buck with roasted duck, roasted pork and char siew all piled onto fragrant white rice. Soaked in the umami-rich juices of these meats, every bite is an indulgent one.

Tampines GreenGem is about to get more convenient with the opening of Amiba Paradise. Most stalls are ready for action, raring to join the hustle this week. If you’re in the area, or if you’re one of the lucky residents at GreenGem, hurry down soon!
