I’ll be frank, this one hurts a lot more than my other stories. Beloved Western food stall in Toa Payoh Lorong 8 Market & Food Centre, Wanted Western Delights, is set to shift in Jan 2026.

Wanted Western Delights shifts - stall

Everyone here at SETHLUI.com feels the sting. The hawker centre is a mere stone’s throw away from our office, and the stall is among our favourites! I first learnt of this news last week, when I popped by during lunchtime and ordered my regular meal.

It was then that the bubbly lady who fronted the stall informed me that they would soon be shifting to a new location. My heart sank.

Wanted Western Delights is owned by He Jia Liang and his wife, Liu Pei Ling, who met and fell in love while working at Marche during their younger years. Fun fact: I learnt through my colleague Aaron that Pei Ling graduated from the same school as he did, SHATEC.

Times were rocky for the couple in 2009, when Jia Liang was retrenched from his job in the hotel and restaurant industry. Fortunately, a golden opportunity presented itself to the couple when Pei Ling’s aunt was looking for someone to take over her Western food stall. Thus, Wanted Western Delights opened.

Wanted Western Delights has been a staple of the hawker centre for 16 years, offering no-frills, affordable Western dishes to the Toa Payoh crowd. Due to unforeseen circumstances, they’ve decided to shift.

Wanted Western Delights shifts - fried fish fried rice

My favourite meal from Wanted Western Delights is their Fried Fish Fried Rice (S$6.50). It’s a simple plate of egg fried rice served with a giant fish fillet that would make Uncle Roger go “fuiyoh!” The fluffy rice has a light pepperiness to it, which combines well with the crispy fish fillet. The best part? You can add a Sunny Side Up Egg for just S$1.

Wanted Western Delights shifts - fish & chips and breakfast set

Their Fish and Chips with Homemade Tartare Sauce (S$8) is a crowd pleaser. It features 2 pieces of fish fillet, baked beans, coleslaw, and fries. Don’t skip out on their Breakfast Set (S$7) either, even if it’s not breakfast time.

Wanted Western Delights will move out on 5 Jan 2026. While their new location is currently unknown, you can be sure I’ll be there on day one to welcome Jia Liang and Pei Ling to their new home. Make sure to pop by before they leave for good!
