Bakeries in hawker centres aren’t too uncommon nowadays, but it’s always a pleasure to see a new one open. That’s how I feel about BAKER RST, a brand new bakery in Empress Road Market & Food Centre!

BAKER RST opened on 18 Jan 2026. The man behind the stall is Ryan Solomon Tan, a young entrepreneur and Le Cordon Bleu graduate. Fun fact: Ryan even has a YouTube channel where he occasionally posts guides on how to cook various dishes!

What’s on offer at BAKER RST? Well, it’s a bakery, so you should expect mouth-wateringly sweet baked goods fresh from the oven at affordable prices. Take a peek at their Pandan, Kaya, Coconut & Gula Melaka Muffin (S$2.90), a rather long-winded name for a muffin that’s somewhat of a tongue twister. The rich pandan bread is accompanied by a thick filling of kaya. It’s equal parts sweet and nostalgic!
One combination I’ve taken a keen interest in is the Matcha Red Bean & Almond Muffin (S$3), as I’ve never heard of such a pairing before. Alternatively, you can also go for their Torched Marshmallow, Nutella, Oreo & Dark Chocolate Muffin (S$3.10), the sweetest of treats, topped with a layer of soft, melted marshmallows.

BAKER RST offers a range of boat pizzas, all inspired by local flavours. Check out their Nasi Lemak Fish, Peanut, Anchovies & Egg Boat Pizza (S$2.80), a mix of the best toppings you can find in a nasi lemak, all tucked into thin yet crispy pizza dough.
A combination you won’t usually find is the Chilli Crab, Prawn, Fish & Cheese Boat Pizza (S$2.70). The name says it all — savoury chilli crab meat mixed with strong cheese.
BAKER RST is open now in Empress Road Market & Food Centre. They’re closed on Mon and Tue, so don’t head down on those days!
