If you’re a lover of all things durian, I have great news for you. Ah Seng Durian will be opening a brand new outlet and cafe at Bukit Merah on 17 August 2020!

This will be their second outlet after their Ghim Moh outlet. Their first cafe, called Durian Lab Cafe, will operate just next door to bring you their specially curated Mao Shan Wang pastries.

Mao Shan Wang, or Musang King, is a variety of durian loved for its creamy and bittersweet taste. This delicious fruit originates from Pahang, Malaysia.

It is distinctive for its vibrant yellow colour and it is often relatively dry on the outside but smooth and buttery once you’ve bitten through its flesh. Considered a premium range of durian, it is as popular eaten alone as it is in desserts.

Look forward to delights like The Swiss Roll at Durian Lab Cafe, featuring fresh 100% Mao Shan Wang purée.

To tease your taste buds even more, Durian Lab Cafe has drummed up anticipation with The MSW Shortcake and Burnt Cheesecake.

If you’re resistant to the taste of durian on its own, I highly recommend trying it in dessert form. The purée, often chilled, makes the durian taste like ice cream and takes away some of its headiness. They make for very refreshing desserts when chilled.

Start with something simple like The Swiss Roll. The cake usually provides a nice airy counterbalance to the thicker and sweeter durian. I love the smooth texture of durian purée against soft sponge cake, it’s so satisfying!

Their new premises will be located at Bukit Merah for dine-ins and takeaways. As an additional perk to celebrate, enjoy 15% off all cakes from 17 to 23 August 2020.
