The 2018 Oscars had us all waiting with bated breath to see the big winners of the film industry. But did you know that the Asian culinary world has its own night of glitz and glamour? For any restaurant in Asia, this is THE biggest night.
Held in bustling Macau on 27 March 2018, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants ceremony unveiled the top restaurants in Asia.
We even got to see our favourite culinary maestros trade in their chef whites for swanky suits and dazzling gowns at a red carpet event.
Are you ready for the results? No surprise here, Gaggan Anand’s (in centre) restaurant Gaggan in Bangkok clinched the coveted Asia’s Top Restaurant title for the fourth consecutive year.
Fear not fellow Singaporeans! Our very own two-Michelin French eatery, Odette, is doing us proud by attaining a glorious fifth place. With his artistic and elegant plates, it’s no wonder the talented Chef Julien Royer is taking home the prestigious award for us.
Joining Odette are six other restaurants that are proving Singapore as a force to be reckoned with in the culinary world. They are Burnt Ends, Waku Ghin, Les Amis, Corner House, Jaan and Whitegrass.
Congratulations to the winners and I’m hopeful that next year will be Singapore at the top!
