Home based bakery, Aunt Yammy, producing old school treats has recently opened their very own physical store in Ang Mo Kio on 14 May 2023. From home-made yam cake and glutinous rice to other breakfast and brunch staples like peng kueh, they’ve got you covered.

Originally an online business that popped up at the height of Covid-19, Aunt Yammy has been going strong as a home business. The store not only sells traditional treats, but also other delights like banana walnut cake and even brownies.

They make use of Malaysian-style chilli, which is a fan favourite. Shiok and hitting the spot, it’s something many love to enjoy with their morning breakfast.

Although their version of yam cake is meatless, it makes use of dried shrimp and shiitake to amp up the umami factor in the dish.

With their new store opening, Aunt Yammy has a brand new in-store menu featuring breakfast sets (S$3.80) and two Ipoh-style set menus (S$4.50). For fried yam cake lovers like myself, the breakfast Set will be right up your alley. With fragrant glutinous rice, two slices of fried yam cake, a generous portion of fried shallots and Aunt Yammy’s signature chilli, it looks to die for.

If fried yam cake isn’t your thing, the steamed version or even carrot cake (steam or fried) are also available for the same price.

I will forever associate these old-school treats with lazy weekend afternoons — just opening a box of carrot or yam cake takes me on a trip down memory lane. Simply looking at the images from Aunt Yammy’s socials is really making me crave some yam cake.

To settle all your breakfast and brunch needs, drop by the Aunt Yammy store in Ang Mo Kio, or place your order online for these delightful old-school treats.
