If you’re interested in trying out some scrumptious Japanese delights by a 1-Michelin-starred chef, then look no further than Chen’s by Chef Chen Kentaro, who’ll be opening their newest outlet in PLQ Mall on 28 Oct 2025!

Chef Chen first earned his Michelin Star by helming Shisen Hanten at Mandarin Orchard. He wanted to bring his unique Chinese-Japanese fusion dishes to a more accessible market, opening Chen’s in the process. Right now, Chen’s has outlets in Paragon, The Star Vista, and Downtown Gallery. With this new outlet in PLQ Mall, the number goes up to 4.

To celebrate the opening, Chen’s will be offering a discounted S$3 bowl of their signature Mapo Tofu Don (U.P. S$12.90), which combines their fragrant MICHELIN Bib Gourmand-worthy mapo tofu with savoury minced pork on fluffy Hokkaido rice. To redeem your discounted bowl, follow them on their Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok and show it to the counter. This promotion will be running from 28 Oct to 30 Oct 2025, so be quick on your feet if you want a taste.

Chen’s will also be premiering their Ebi Chili Tamago Don (S$20.90), which is exclusive to their PLQ Mall outlet. It’s a genius combination of Japanese and Singaporean flavours, mixing watery scrambled eggs with sweet and spicy chili crab sauce, topped with soft prawns. The rice and tamago help balance the heat of the chili crab sauce.
