5. Whole Earth

CNY 2026 reunion dinner - whole earth front

Going meatless on the first day of Chinese New Year is a significant tradition for many Chinese,  symbolising the desire to begin the year with compassion and purity. If you’re seeking lip-smacking vegetarian food for this coming CNY, then Whole Earth at 76 Peck Seah Street is definitely the place to dine at.

Whole Earth is Singapore’s first and only plant-based restaurant which has been awarded MICHELIN since the MICHELIN guide arrived here. It’s Whole Earth’s 22nd year in operations and has come a long way in the F&B industry.

The cuisine itself is a vibrant tapestry woven from Peranakan and Thai influences, characterised by the generous use of spices. This expert application of seasoning builds rich, complex layers of flavour that are both familiar and excitingly new.

CNY 2026 reunion dinner - appetiser platter dishes

This special period is also the only time of the year when the establishment introduces limited-time exclusive specialities, some of which are included in the Dine-In Set Menu (from S$148++) and à la carte selections (recommended for 6 pax). The Platter of Treasures (S$48) is an excellent starter showcasing a trinity of handmade appetisers, perfect for 6 pax

The robust spices of the crispy otak-otak spring rolls are paired with the unique licorice-like flavours of the stuffed perilla leaves. The crispy mayo cheeky monkey with pineapple chunks is creamy, refreshing and has loads of texture.

Finish it off with an array of fresh, vibrant veggies like fresh cordyceps flower and lily bulbs stir-fried with Australian asparagus.

CNY 2026 reunion dinner - parcel dish closeup

The Blessings Pockets (S$36) contain 6 handcrafted ‘parcels’ that are filled with a hearty mix of shiitake mushrooms, crunchy water chestnuts, and citrusy coriander. These are paired with a subtly sweet gravy filled with fresh loofah bits for the perfect accompaniment.

CNY 2026 reunion dinner - other dishes

Don’t be fooled by the simple appearance of the Harmony of Nature (S$28). The nutty flavour of the tender lotus root is paired with fresh, chewy makhana (prickly water lily seeds), a superfood known for its health benefits. Fresh makhana is rare and not easily obtained.

Together with sweet peas, the dish is tossed with their homemade signature XO sauce for a mildly spicy and umami taste (also available in a non-spicy version). The combination is so crunchy that it’s perfect to munch on its own.

Also not to be missed are 2 of Whole Earth’s iconic favurites — the legendary Penang Rendang (S$28) and Thai Sweet & Sour Delight (S$24). The former consists of shiitake mushrooms, marinated in a ‘secret’ rendang sauce consisting of various spices, herbs and a rich coconutty flavour.

It has won the hearts of countless diners over the years with its authentic Peranakan flavours that have been passed down through generations. The latter was so crispy and aromatic, filled with juicy pineapple pieces and slathered in a vibrant sweet and sour glaze that was so appetising.

CNY 2026 reunion dinner - mushroom dish

Available in limited servings each day, the Pearl Symphony (S$33) is an opulent pairing of premium pearl oyster (not sold in supermarkets/markets) and king oyster mushrooms, that are grown organically and freshly harvested each morning. Every bite is so aromatic with the right combination of taste and texture. If you are a lover of the Thai style sauce, you will truly enjoy this dish. Best of all, it’s a steam dish with all natural goodness and taste packed in this dish! To avoid disappointment, early pre-ordering is highly recommended.

Make your reservation now and enjoy S$6 off when you order by 31 Jan 2026. Customers who place self pick-up orders get S$10 off (min. order of S$200)

What’s more, if you’re dining in and getting the Chinese New Year Set Menu with a minimum of 6 pax. you’ll be gifted a S$20 dine-in return voucher (limited to the first 80 customers who order set menus for 6 pax and above/applies for delivery or self pick-up)

7. Shisen Hanten by Chen Kentaro (Hilton Singapore Orchard)

CNY 2026 reunion dinner - shisan hanten

Celebrate Chinese New Year over at MICHELIN-starred restaurant, Shisen Hanten by Chen Kentaro. Located on level 35 of Hilton Singapore Orchard, the restaurant menu features a wide collection of time-honoured classics that are meticulously elevated with a touch of luxury to usher in a prosperous Chinese New Year 2026.

Served in its signature Chūka Szechwan Ryori style, the exquisite festive sets are available for lunch (9 Feb to 3 Mar 2026) and for dinner (2 Feb to 3 Mar 2026). For guests who don’t want to go for set menus, an extensive à la carte selection and vegetarian dishes are also available.

CNY 2026 reunion dinner - shisan hanten dishes

We tried the 8-course Triumphant Menu ($218++ per diner, 6 guests & above) to say it was a standout would be an understatement. The Prosperity Madai Yu Sheng boasts a tangy strawberry plum sauce and madai (red sea bream) that is sourced from Japan’s Kochi prefecture. Every bite was refreshing and simply satisfying. The Foie Gras Chawanmushi with Crab Roe Soup took me back to my recent Shanghai trip where I had savoured heavenly crab roe noodles. This restaurant signature is made with seasonal Alaskan king crab, where the kitchen team picks the crab flesh and roe by hand. Every sip of the soup was simply divine.

Then I enjoyed the fresh and crunchy flavours of the Wok-fried Prawn with Fresh Lily Bulb and Asparagus. Meat lovers will adore the Crispy Roasted Sakura Chicken with Fragrant Garlic. It was full of crunch with its crispy skin and crowning of deep-fried garlic bits. The meat was also tender and perfectly marinated.

CNY 2026 reunion dinner - shisan hanten dishes 2

The Deep-fried Marble Goby with Yuzu Sauce features a scrumptious fried fish with soft flesh paired with a yuzu sauce that was savoury and citrusy at the same time. Next, I tucked into the luxe Braised South African 4-head Abalone, Black Moss and Seasonal Vegetables in Oyster Sauce. Top up S$10 per diner, and you can get to indulge in the Wok-fried Glutinous Rice with Foie Gras, Chinese Sausage & Black Truffle. Trust me, it’s worth it!

Lastly, finish your meal with the Chilled Szechwan Jelly with Seasonal Fruit | Crispy Duo flavour Nian Gao Roll

CNY 2026 reunion dinner - yan ting yu sheng

It’s Chinese New Year and of course, we had to start the meal with the classic-yet-different Prosperity Yu Sheng, Abalone, Hokkaido Scallop, Whitebait. I really enjoyed the crispy whitebait that added an addictive crunch to every bite. The fresh scallop and abalone were also excellent pairings with the medley of fresh ingredients.

CNY 2026 reunion dinner - yan ting dishes

The Braised Superior Bird’s Nest, Crabmeat, Truffle, Pumpkin Broth was served bubbling hot in a claypot. Each comforting sip was enhanced with the the truffle’s earthiness, silky strands of bird’s nest, fresh crab and subtly sweet hints of pumpkin.

Be amazed at the varying textures of the Crispy Sea Cucumber Stuffed with Prawn Paste, Prosperity Oyster, Black Moss. It was a piece of modern art presented with traditional flavours. The Steamed Leopard Grouper Fillet, Green Peppercorn was clean-tasting and fresh, enhanced by the spiciness of the minced fresh garlic and piquant green pepper.

The Angel Hair Pasta, Wok-baked Half Lobster, Cheese, Butter, Superior Stock sent me to paradise with fine strands of angel hair enveloped in a rich, creamy, and buttery sauce with succulent lobster flesh. Celebrate the festivities with extra cheer with celebratory promotions, including Moutai bottle (S$368, U.P. S$398) and Moutai Shots (S$66 for 6 shots, S$88 for 8 shots). From 9 Feb to 3 Mar 2026, à la carte offerings are also available (2-day pre-order required for selected dishes).
