Sometimes, I think I was a saint in my previous life. That must be the only reason I am being rewarded with such good karma aka Swissotel The Stamford’s Chocolate Dinner Buffet (S$88 per adult, S$44 per child) at Clove.

This is a complete buffet spread divided into sections that include a Vitality Salad Bar, Seafood on Ice, Bakery, Cheese Selection, Smoked Fish & Charcuterie, Salad and Soup.

chocolate buffet - ravioli

At the Live Stations, you get to choose from Ruby Chocolate Ravioli, Spicy Chocolate Sea Shrimp and Crispy Pork Belly, among others. It also includes a Kopitiam Seafood Laksa station where I found the soup particularly close to some of my local hawker favourites.

The Wok-Fried Slipper Lobster in Ivory Chocolate Pepper Sauce from the Local Selection is my choice for first place.

chocolate buffet - porks ribs with chocolate sauce

It closely beat out the Chilli Mocha Pork Coffee Ribs.

chocolate buffet - oysters with chocolate sauce

The Fresh Oysters from the Seafood on Ice section were prettily dressed with a dollop of chocolate sauce, which tasted rather interesting.

chocolate buffet - dhal makhani

I found the Milk Chocolate Dal Makhani (vegetarian) from the Indian Selection both unusual and interesting. The raita and poppadoms are so good as accompaniments.

chocolate buffet - nitrogen cocoa dessert

It’s really difficult to pick a favourite dessert when there is so much exquisite variety but I finally settled on one. The Nitrogen Cocoa is a wonderfully creative guilty pleasure both taste-wise and visually. It is presented in a Dark White Chocolate Shell that closely resembles a husked coconut. Filled with Kaffir Lime Ice Jelly, this delight is then topped with Coco Foam Coconut Sorbet that blew me away.

chocolate buffet - ice cream selection

There are four ice-cream treats— Bounty Gelato, Chocolate, Strawberry Gelato and Yoghurt. Chocolate’s usually my favourite but the coconut-based Bounty gelato was even better! Watching your weight while at a chocolate-themed buffet? Clove’s selection of chilled tropical fruits may help.

chocolate buffet - different kinds of chocolate

Thirsty? Make full use of the free flow of tea and coffee, as well as chilled apple juice and iced Milo. You can even create your own Milo Dinosaur, complete with sprinkles and M&Ms if you wish. For a wider selection of beverages, you may add on free flow of La Minga Sauvignon Blanc, La Minga Cabernet Sauvignon, Tiger Beer, soft drinks and chilled juices (S$58) or just soft drinks and chilled juices (S$15).

chocolate buffet - plate full of desserts

This is definitely the spot for chocolate aficionados who will love the exciting line-up of luscious chocolate dishes, available exclusively for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays from 6pm to 10pm, and brunch on Sunday from 12 pm to 2.30pm. Both buffets cost S$88 per adult, S$44 per child.
