Nothing can stop you if you’re resilient enough. Datouxia Big Prawn Noodle personifies that as they reopen at 7 Stars Coffee Shop in Hougang this upcoming 5 Nov.

Under this name, this is the first time they have had to relocate, but the owner has fought through several closings and openings already.

Previously located at 304 Ubi Avenue, they announced they would be closing temporarily on 31 Aug. The announcement came with a tentative reopening date of 10 Oct.

The kopitiam they were at was renovating, thus the closure. But then came the Facebook post that due to unforeseen issues, the kopitiam’s reopening date was up in the air. It was out of the stall’s control.

Not wanting to wait any longer, the owner Xiao Ann announced that they would be relocating instead.

Xiao Ann has quite the backstory. His first venture Datouxia closed in 2015 after operating for only 1 month. It remained closed for 7 years as he worked as an Economy Mixed Rice hawker to cover his losses.

He reopened at the Ubi kopitiam, this time to what seemed like greater success. He had, after all, been observing and learning from other Prawn Mee hawkers to better his cooking. To mark the new start, he rebranded as well.

If you like your Prawn Mee with a good selection of add-on ingredients, you should look forward to Datouxia Big Prawn Noodle’s reopening. The menu for the previous location listed the usual Pork Ribs and Pig’s Intestine but he also offered Lala, Blood Clams and Abalone.

Their noodles were previously in the S$4-S$9 range. Please keep an eye on the stall’s Facebook for any price changes at their new location.

In fact, why not just drop by just to cheer on a man powering on through sheer resilience. You’d get a bowl of Prawn Mee at the very least.
