If you have eaten your way through our entire list of 15 affordable places for Japanese food, we applaud you. Now, you might be looking for a new location for your next oishii endeavour. Head to Genzo, a newly opened Modern Japanese establishment located at River Valley Road

Be it a plate of fresh sashimi or an array of sushis, a piping hot bowl of udon or a luscious donburi, Genzo has you covered with a kaleidoscope of selections that are bound to delight.

Start off your meal at Genzo with an entrée of Century Egg Tofu (S$2.80), a unique take on traditional Japanese cold tofu topped with a generous drizzle of century egg sauce, crab meat and crunchy burst-in-your-mouth tobiko

Otherwise, indulge in their Italian-inspired Signature Truffle Salmon Carpaccio (S$15.80). These exquisitely sliced raw fish with black and white truffle will leave you wanting more with its deep nutty fragrance and undeniable freshness.

For your mains, why not continue your truffle journey with Genzo Truffle Foie Gras Wagyu (S$28.80). On your base (you can choose from Japanese Pearl Rice, Zaru Soba, Zaru Udon, Salad or Brown Rice (+S$1)), you’ll find a beautiful combination of wagyu beef and seared foie gras drenched in a mixture of teriyaki and white truffle oil. Now, this is what I call maximum indulgence in a bowl!

A la carte dishes aside, the eatery also offers an 11-course Genzo Omakase (S$100) menu featuring a medley of signature dishes and seasonal delights perfect for an intimate date night. All you need to do is place a reservation by dropping them a DM on their Instagram or WhatsApp to +65 9468 8800 and you are all set.

Special shout out goes to @joeyxpopper on Instagram for recommending this new in town to us (we really appreciate it!). If you know any hidden gems or recently spotted any new kid on the block that we have yet to share, feel free to recommend them to us. After all, good food is meant to be shared, don’t you agree?
