Bubble tea fans, listen up! If you’re looking for new drinks to try, Gong Cha Singapore has joined the hype with a range of new drinks: the Brown Sugar Series, and the Deluxe Latte Series.

The new drinks are now available at all Gong Cha outlets in Singapore, so I decided to give them a try.

For those who can’t get enough of brown sugar drinks, Gong Cha’s new Brown Sugar Series is perfect for you.

Gong Cha Brown Sugar Deluxe Latte Series 1

Their Brown Sugar Fresh Milk With Pearl (S$4.30/Medium, S$5.50/Large) comes with a generous load of black pearls topped with brown sugar syrup and swirls of fresh milk.

While the fresh milk was creamy and rich, the brown sugar fell short of our expectations. They must have overcooked the syrup, which had an unusually bitter taste.

The bitterness was so overwhelming that the drink had a distasteful burnt taste to it. Hopefully, it was just a one-off mistake and won’t happen again.

Gong Cha Brown Sugar Deluxe Latte Series 2

Along with the Brown Sugar Series, Gong Cha has also rolled out a Deluxe Latte Series. This new range of drinks infuses fruity flavours and fresh milk into Gong Cha’s all-time favourites.

The Strawberry Taro Latte (S$4.50/Medium, S$5.80/Large) was unlike anything I’ve ever had. This combination sounded strange, but the tangy strawberry struck a perfect balance with the earthy taro and the milk’s sweetness.

Refreshing and decadent, this drink is perfect for a warm and humid day.

As far as brown sugar drinks are concerned, I’m still on Team Liho for now. That said, I found the drinks from the new Deluxe Latte Series unique and really interesting.

Overall, Gong Cha’s new menu had some hits but also some major misses. Head down and try them out and let us know if you agree!
