After the great reception to its first outlet in Toa Payoh, Hokkien Man Hokkien Mee has decided to expand, and will be opening a new outlet in Tampines 1’s Hawker Street on 15 Mar 2026.

Hokkien Man Hokkien Mee’s owner, Xavier Neo, enjoyed huge success after opening his first outlet in Toa Payoh in 2019. His outlet in Toa Payoh is easily recognisable by the striking yellow and with a picture of Mr Neo himself, in the middle.

Mr. Neo had worked at Les Amis, learning culinary techniques which have helped him elevate the flavour of his hokkien mee. In fact, his prawn stock is very similar to a lobster bisque.

Another aspect that gained his hokkien mee publicity was the quality of the dishes he put out. Mr Neo’s hokkien mee is on the wet side, and the noodles are soaked in a flavourful broth. On top of that, he does not skimp on the quality or quantity of his ingredients. They are all freshly produced and are served in generous portions, coming together to give the hokkien mee an umami and sweet taste.

You can also add on extra ingredients, such as abalone or pork slices (S$2/S$3/S$4), making your hokkien mee customisable.

The sambal chilli recipe was from Mr Neo’s wife, Alice Lai, who previously ran a nasi lemak stall with her aunt. The chilli’s recipe was tweaked to better complement the hokkien mee, so as not to let the spice take away the focus from the hokkien mee itself.

It is no wonder that Hokkien Man Hokkien Mee has been recognised in the 2025 Michelin Guide. This brings Mr Neo one step closer to his dream of achieving a Michelin Star, as he stated in a 2019 interview.

Do remember to save the date in your calendars, as 15 Mar 2026 will be the grand opening of his newest outlet in Tampines 1!
