Huoyanshaiziniu: Blow-Torched Beef Cubes & Refreshing Brown Sugar Bubble Tea at Plaza Singapura

Are you missing Taiwanese beef cubes? If you are a lover of those succulent flame-grilled beef cubes from Taiwan, here’s one for you. As a ravenous meat lover, one thing I miss the most from my last Taiwan trip is Taiwanese-style grilled beef cubes.

Fortunately, I stumbled across Huoyanshaiziniu‘s Instagram page and their images of the mouth-watering beef cubes had me salivating.

To concoct the perfect meal pairing, they’ve also recently launched their own bubble tea brand named Captain Boba. So, If you’re looking to satiate your sweet tooth cravings for bubble tea, order it alongside their tender and juicy flame-grilled beef cubes for a hearty meal delight.

Huoyanshaiziniu 2

Helmed by two young Singaporeans, Cheo Tian Feng and Sean Lee, the duo serves beef steak cubes that are freshly fired and torched up over a teppanyaki griddle. With two branches located at Plaza Singapura and Ion Orchard, you sure know where to head to for a sweet finish and a savoury delight.

I ordered them in for delivery and got my hands on some of their highly-recommended dishes such as the Premium Wagyu Rice Box (S$22.20), Taiwan Pancake (S$5.50 for three pieces), Chicken Rice Box (S$11.90), Pork Rice Box (S$11.90), Mexican Wings (S$7.20 for six pieces), Brown Sugar Boba Milk ($6.60) and Thai Milk Tea With Brown Sugar Milk (S$6.90).

Huoyanshaiziniu Beef Cubes

Blow-torched to perfection, the wagyu beef cubes possessed a charred smokey flavoured exterior while preserving succulent meat within. Tender to bite and melt-in-the-mouth tender, each bite of it was easy to chew as they boasted a chewy, juicy texture and bold savoury meaty flavour.

Garnished with nori and topped with fluffy Japanese rice slathered with their homemade yakitori sauce, they definitely make up a hearty and power-packed meal.

Huoyanshaiziniu Chicken Rice

If you’re not a beef fan, fret not; there’ll definitely be something for everyone here. The Chicken Rice Box consists of juicy and tender chicken chunks glazed in a flavorful homemade yakiniku sauce. The marinade gave the bite-sized chunks a tinge of sweetness, giving that perfect combination of savoury and sweet.

Huoyanshaiziniu Pork

The Pork Rice Box, on the other hand, was surprisedly delicately tender. Pork always has a reputation for being dry, tough and overly fatty which in this case, thankfully, I was blessed with tender, juicy, moist and flavorful chunks. The bite-sized morsels were similarly marinated with flavorful homemade yakiniku sauce that rendered perfect meat-to-fat ratio.

Huoyanshaiziniu Scallion Pancake

A popular Taiwanese street snack, the Taiwan Pancake was crispy, flaky and lightly chewy. To accentuate the flavours of the pancake, I stuffed them with chunks of wagyu beef cubes, a slice of cheddar cheese and a spoonful of mayonnaise. Woah, every mouthful was a mega oomph; it was rich, creamy and savoury with a luscious mouthfeel.

Huoyanshaiziniu Chicken

The Mexican Wings were anything but boring. The perfect choice for a side dish, these crispy and juicy drumlets will suck you into an addiction. Packing a punch and essentially my ultimate comfort food indulgence, I couldn’t stop myself from multiple helpings.

Huoyanshaiziniu Bubble Tea

Nothing beats a refreshing cup of bubble tea alongside a wholesome meal. The Brown Sugar Boba Milk and Thai Milk Tea With Brown Sugar Milk were delightfully light in flavour, elevated by a generous addition of chewy tapioca pearls. It was still chilled when it arrived and it wasn’t too sweet, perfect for those of us with lighter palates. The boba pearls were caramel-flavoured, perfect for an instant perk-me-up.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, the portions were perfect for anyone who is looking at something more substantial for lunch. Boasting bold and earthy flavours, the Premium Wagyu Rice Box was my favourite. So, anytime you need a fix of Taiwanese fares, visit Huoyanshaiziniu for a little taste of Taiwan!
