Residents staying around Tampines will be treated to more makan options in the near future as fresh F&B concepts are constantly opening up around their hood. Adding to that list is an upcoming brand-new Thai-Malay establishment, IM QALB by Pun Im, which will be soft opening on 31 Aug 2026 at Tampines Mall.

The restaurant’s concept was brought to life by Chef Vincent Pang, the founder of Pun Im Group, who has 2 other restaurants under his belt. The dishes served at IM QALB focuses on the robust flavours and rich Muslim culinary legacies of Southern Thailand. Each plate will have a culinary identity of its own, infusing tradition, culture, and creativity, all in a single dish.

Guests will be greeted by its eye-catching entrance that seemingly invites them to enter into another dimension. The walls have floral motifs that decorate the entire space, paying homage to the Ratchaphruek, Thailand’s national flower. An illuminated facade and curved design shapes also welcome guests into a common dining room, where the paddy field-inspired ceiling becomes the centrepiece.

The menu centres around the Golden Crab Tahu Kai Jeow (S$18.80), a special IM QALB creation that defines the restaurant’s philosophy of ‘Many traditions. A Full Heart.’  Thailand’s famous kai jeow gets a fun twist by fusing it with tahu telur, a Malay favourite. The deep-fried dish consists of tofu, premium jumbo lump crab meat, and acacia leaves, served with an in-house made sweet sauce and rich egg yolk sauce.

Regional Thai crowd favourites can also be found, like the Spicy & Sour Beef Soup “Tom Saap” (S$16.80), an Isaan-inspired broth prepared with premium beef cuts, roasted rice powder, robust spices, and fresh herbs. There’s also the spicy and sour Southern Thai Fish Soup “Gaeng Lueang” (S$16.80), a fiery Southern Thai speciality featuring Spanish mackerel, morning glory, green papaya, and a spicy full-bodied broth.

The coasts of Southern Thailand are highlighted by options such as the Stir-Fried Petai with Wild-Caught Black Tiger Prawns (S$19.80) and Stir-Fried Squid in Black Ink Sauce (S$19.80).

Swing by from the last day of August onwards and let me know what you guys think.
