Maki-San deserves credit for coming up with such a daring idea of mixing a sweet dish with the tongue-numbing spice. Affordably priced, Mala Lou Hei (S$48) has a perfect sharing portion for six to eight.

Apart from the usual julienned vegetables, the Mala Lou Hei boasts unique ingredients, such as glass noodle, shredded egg crepe, shrimp bonito, and of course the spicy mala sauce.

The addition of glass noodle and crepe egg wrap is an interesting addition to the crunchy dish, bringing a new textural contrast to each bite. For those who cannot take spicy food can opt for the classic version of the lou hei with plum sauce.

If you are tired of tossing the regular lou hei every year, spice things up this year by giving Mala Lou Hei a shot but remember to have water on standby!

Expected Damage: S$48
