This isn’t a trick: if you love Japanese cuisine, you’re in for a real treat on 28 October – 1 November 2017. At Oscar’s in Conrad Centennial Singapore, you can expect to find the famous Ishigaki beef and other produce from the region, all part of the scrumptious-sounding Okinawa Food Fair as part of Oscar’s regular buffet for a limited time only!

For the first time, you can look forward to savouring Ishigaki beef outside of Okinawa. Cleverly combining Japanese exports with local recipes, this food fair will give you a taste of home alongside Okinawan superfoods.

One of the must-try dishes is the Slow Cooked Ishigaki Beef Top Round In Rendang Style. Cooked in the traditional Indonesian rendang style, the subtle fatty taste of Ishigaki beef is paired with the lightly spiced rendang stew.

A lighter snack would be the Kuih Pie Tee With Seared Blue Fin Tuna. Combining local delights and Japanese delicacies, the crumbly outer shell complemented the lightly seared tuna bits. Soft yet firm to the bite with a bit of chewiness, this dish will leave you addicted.

A few of the Okinawan dishes at this buffet feature goya, which is an Okinawan bitter gourd. Unlike the bitter gourds we’re used to, it was bitter with a subtly sweet aftertaste. Try the Braised Pork Ribs With Fresh Bitter Gourd & Black Beans, and you’ll see how the sweet aftertaste is a refreshing contrast to the gamey pork ribs.

Since it’s a buffet, feel free to jump to the soup course halfway through. The Crustacean Bisque With Mozuku Seaweed was a smooth and creamy soup with a lingering taste of the sea. Taken together with the mozuku seaweed, this super healthy seaweed added a lighter texture to the soup.

Never leave without dessert! The Baked Cheesecake With Okinawan Shikuwasa Gelee was simply divine. Quite dense for a Japanese cheesecake, the richness of this after-dinner treat was undercut by the super citric gelee.

With such a scrumptious spread of savouries and sweets, you’ll want to hurry down to Conrad Centennial Singapore right now. It’s not every day that you get an authentic taste of Japan right here in Singapore!
