This American-inspired diner’s bizarre secret menu has left Malaysians appalled

You can’t call yourself a real clucker-gobbler if you don’t eat all parts of chicken— I don’t make the rules. Though as someone who eats tongkeng on a regular basis, even I’m a little shocked with what Pretty’s Hot Chicken, Setapak has got in their secret vault.

If you’re up-to-date with Malaysian food buzz on social media, you will know that the Nashville-style fried chicken is a huge hit here. This spot in KL, with a similar concept, takes it up a notch by introducing a new secret menu.

Looking straight out of a video game, The Pretty’s Claw is a whole fried chicken leg placed between two halves of a bun, accompanied with a slice of melted cheese — the classic American taste.

Drenched in their signature hot oil and bright red chilli powder, it almost resembles a dragon foot rather than a simple piece of chicken! The way that it’s just hanging out of the buns even adds to the grotesque exterior — a meal fit for a king.

This menu has sparked an uproar among Malaysians on social media. Most have expressed their bewilderment regarding the dish, with some mistaking the chicken leg to be an unchopped neck instead, due to its appearance. 

Surprisingly, those who have tried the burger seem to not share the same opinion. Marinated in buttermilk and spices before being fried to perfection, The Pretty’s Claw is as yummy as their other regular chicken dishes. So don’t knock it ‘till you try it!
