Sleep In & Skip Rumah Rasa’s Sunday Brunch Buffet + Free Flow Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream At Bay Hotel Singapore

If you are a Ben & Jerry’s fan, then the all-new ultimate Sunday Brunch (S$48++ for adults, S$28++ for children) at Rumah Rasa in Bay Hotel Singapore might have gotten you excited.

Rumah Rasa is a halal-certified Indonesian restaurant, and their Sunday brunch buffet offers dishes such as Ikan Bakar Salmon Fillet With Sambal Matah, a BBQ station and six flavours of free-flow Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have the best dining experiences here. The restaurant seating was very cramped, as I could hear the conversations of the tables next to me. On top of that, I could even see many flies on the dishes, which I felt was not very hygienic.

I tried the Rendang Marinated Beef Sirloin With Man Tou, but the beef was rather dry and tough, while the sauce didn’t taste like rendang.

The carving station was also understaffed, so I was only served the third time I went by. My seat had a view of the carving station outside the restaurant, and I even saw a bird pecking away at the slab of beef.

If you usually head back to the buffet line for seconds and thirds, you may be in for a long wait. The other food items outside like the barbecued prawns were only replenished after quite some time, and the Yong Tau Foo and Man Tou were still cold too.

The highlight of the buffet was the free-flow Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, which you can enjoy with freshly-made waffles.

Although there were supposed to be six flavours, I only saw four flavours available when I was there. The worst part was that the ice cream was already half melted.

I felt that there was a lack of attention to detail, as well as poor hygiene practices. Hygiene is paramount in any eatery, and the hygiene at Rumah Rasa was sadly sub-standard.

Moreover, S$48++ is a hefty price to pay for a buffet spread with a mediocre fare. I would definitely recommend sleeping in and skip the Rumah Rasa’s Sunday Brunch Buffet.
