If you’ve missed the famous TamJai SamGor rice noodles from Hong Kong, you only have less than a month of yearning left. TamJai SamGor will be opening their first international outlet come 30 October 2020.

Located at Bedok Mall, this place already sounds worth travelling to the east for (after all, they’ve come here all the way from Hong Kong).

This Michelin-approved noodle house sounds like the prime spot for comfort food, with the customisable combinations of ingredients, soup bases and spicy levels.

Choose from a wide range of toppings such as chicken, enoki mushroom, tofu puffs, and tail-on shrimp.

Following that, select a soup base from TamJai SamGor’s six signatures. The soup bases promise a punchy blend of sour and spicy taste profiles. As an avid fan of the hot and sour combination, I know I’m especially eager to try their Suan La Soup. There’s something so comforting about a reliable bowl of soup noodles, and I find it even more enjoyable when it stings the tongue with acidity and spice. For a milder option, you can also try the invigorating Fragrant Clear Soup.

After selecting your soup base, pick your challenge from 10 spicy levels, starting from a benign non-spicy to a deep scarlet extra hot. How high on this scale do you dare to go?

If it’s your first time dining here, TamJai SamGor recommends that you start with 1/10 mild, the second level on this scale. Probably best to listen to the masters, to avoid a sweat-fest and cry-sesh over your first rice-noodle bowl. How embarrassing.

If the pressure of selecting your own combinations of ingredients is too great for your hangry and distracted mind, TamJai SamGor also offers a pre-selected option with the GuoQiaoMixian (Cross-Bridge Mixian), with 16 toppings.

Don’t forget to complete your meal with a side of TuFei (Hunan Cumin) Chicken Wings. After all, what’s a trip to TamJai SamGor without a taste of their trademark dish?

While prices are still to be confirmed, we already love a good promotion—from 30 October 2020 to 1 November 2020, 100 free bowls of noodles will be given out to customers who are following TamJai SamGor’s Facebook page and have obtained a queue number within the first 100. So remember, fastest fingers first!
