When I first heard 15th Club would be opening at The Cathay, I was intrigued by the concept of an indoor golf studio. When I think of golf, I think of vast grassy golf courses and the bright sun blazing in your face, so I was pleasantly surprised once I set foot into 15th Club with its cool temperature and comforting lighting.

15th club - open stimulator bay

When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by their 3 open bays, each with a huge screen depicting realistic course visuals. When you’re immersed, it’s difficult to tell you’re not at a physical golf course. 15th Club runs Foresight Sports GCQuad and Falcon technology to deliver accurate data for performance tracking. I can imagine the 3 open bays’ open and welcoming environment to be perfect for social butterfly golfers who like a lively social atmosphere.

15th club - club bar lounge

Beside the 3 open bays, there is a lounge with a drinks bar to unwind before or after swings. I enjoyed looking at the variety of beverages they offer, from non-alcoholic options like coffees and teas to alcoholic ones like wines and premium spirits. As someone with bad hand-eye coordination, I was fully expecting to miss swings and look awkward, so I ultimately went for a non-alcoholic beverage to prevent myself from missing even more.

15th club - private room

If you’re like me and prefer a more private space for practice and play, 15th Club offers 4 private studios. These private studios serve as an enclosed space for coaching, meaningful practice or a 9- or 18-hole round. Similar to the 3 open bays, each studio runs Foresight Sports GCQuad and Falcon technology for performance tracking.

15th club - private room

15th Club is academy-led, with coaching by PGA-accredited professionals. I approached 1 of their coaches, Cathal Simpson for some guidance while playing. I had fun playing and was intrigued by the detailed performance data showing data such as ball speed, launch angle, side angle, backspin and more. I liked that as it gave me a clear understanding of my movement so I could improve my posture and learn to swing better. Cathal was also friendly and gave excellent guidance and advice during the game.

15th club - coach swinging

After swinging around 30 times, I slowly got used to the proper stance, keeping my legs slightly shoulder-width apart, along with stopping my habit of sticking my pinky up when holding the golf club as if I were sipping a cup of tea. I would say it’s definitely muscle memory as well; on my last few rounds I found myself subconsciously adjusting the ball position and the angle of the clubface after Cathal had pointed it out.

Some tips for beginners like myself: do keep your eyes on the ball until it has hit the screen to avoid missing, and loosen your grip on the club handle to avoid sore hands the next day.

15th club - exterior

15th Club works on a credit basis, with 1 credit for a 30-min open bay experience and  2 credits for a 30-min private studio experience. If I were just looking to squeeze in a quick practice session or a casual round, I’d go for the S$20-per-credit option since there’s no need to commit upfront. For practising regularly, I’d choose the 15-credit package for S$255, which brings the cost down to S$17 per credit.

However, if I was planning to make full use of the facilities over time, I’d opt for the 50-credit package at S$800. At S$16 per credit, it offers the best value and would be my pick for consistent golfers.

Would I recommend 15th Club? Definitely! With their 4 private studios, 3 open bays and lounge, 15th Club is the perfect place to play golf in a controlled environment with performance tracking. Head over and enjoy swinging in their indoor golf studio.
