Ramadan 2024: 11 best iftar options in Singapore – dine out or get delivery

Ramadan, observed by Muslims worldwide, is a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and togetherness. In 2024, this sacred month will begin on 12 March and conclude on 9 April. Iftar is also a time where families and friends gather as one.

As you practice abstaining from food and drink when the sun is up, I’m sure you’re starting to crack your head on where to head to for iftar

Don’t worry, though! Since Ramadan is just around the corner, I’ve searched high and low for the 11 best iftar options in Singapore to dine at or get delivery from— start marking your calendars!

1. Mum Daughter Kitchen

ramadan2024 - mum daughter kitchen

For die-hard fans of Mum Daughter Kitchen at Chinatown Complex Market & Food Centre who crave their nasi padang, here’s the scoop: the hawker stall will be temporarily closed until April 2024 due to their new venture. But fear not… they’re still running delivery services!

During this upcoming Ramadan (from Mondays to Fridays), a Ramadhan Special, ideal for 4 pax, is available for self pick-up or delivery. Each day features a rotating selection from their 4-week menu calendar, offering Beef (S$55), Chicken (S$53), or Seafood/Fish (S$55) options served with veggies, sides, and kuih.

I received Beef Rendang which was perfumed with robust notes of coconut and various spices. The spices packed a punch and I was scrambling to search for pieces of bread to soak up the remaining bits of gravy— didn’t want to waste a single drop!

The Sayur Lodeh was rich and creamy with cabbage, carrots and long beans. Both of these dishes would go superbly well with rice (not provided). The homemade Bergedil was delicious, filled with bits of chicken, while both the Epok Epok Sardine and Potato were just as crispy and yummy.

2. The Padangton

ramadan2024 - the padangton

The Padangton along 2 Jalan Klapa is a Muslim-owned casual dining establishment serving up authentic Padang cuisine with a creative twist.

There will be 2 promotional sets launching specially for Ramadan. The Padangton Iftar Delight Set (S$68 for 2 pax) includes a Lamb Shank Rendang Padangton, Ayam Bakar Set, Padang Drumlets Sambal Ijo/Belado, Sweet and Spicy Grilled Corn and 2 drinks.

There’s also the Padangton Seafood Sensation Set (S$120 for 4) which includes the Padangton Seafood Platter, 4 bowls of Yellow Rice, Pulut Sushi Rendang Platter and 4 drinks.

I opted for à la carte instead and tried the Gulai Padang Salmon Pasta (S$24.50), which was a slightly spicy and tangy creamy penne pasta, served with a slab of flavourful and moist grilled salmon—  I loved it to bits!

The house-special Lamb Shank Rendang Padangton (S$27) required a 40-minute wait as the restaurant freshly bakes it upon order. The long wait paid off with a buttery, flakey pastry encasing flavourful, fall-off-the-bone lamb shank flesh. It was served with a lip-smacking rendang gravy and achar simply delicious.

Every Tuesday and Wednesday throughout Ramadan between 5pm to 6.30pm, The Padangton will also be giving away 50 pre-packed meals of rendang Padang rice for takeaway to the public for iftar (on a first-come, first-served basis)
