Quality food, rich stories and affordable prices? Ask any local or tourist and they’ll tell you that Singapore’s hawker food scene is an attraction in and of itself. ‘Eat hawker food’ among the must-dos on our sunny island.

On that note, let us rejoice. As of Mar 20246 hawker stalls have been added to the MICHELIN Guide Singapore. That’s another 6 whole reasons to be ever so proud of our humble hawkers.

According to the MICHELIN website, MICHELIN Guide inclusions encompass restaurants—or stalls—that an Inspector deems “too good to keep a secret”. Right on! Let’s get into the list.

1. Maxwell Fuzhou Oyster Cake

Maxwell Fuzhou Oyster Cake - Stallfront & Oyster Cake

Maxwell Fuzhou Oyster Cake needs no introduction. Selling just the titular Fuzhou Oyster Cake (S$2.50 per piece), this mainstay of Maxwell Food Centre is what you’d call a one-dish wonder. Chock-full of meat encased in a crispy fragrant batter, these famed Oyster Cakes have earned the stall numerous accolades. The latest addition to this already-abundant collection plastered over its front is tThe iconic red and white MICHELIN sticker.

2. Chef Kang’s Noodle House

Chef Kang's Noodle House - Wanton Noodles & Char Siew

Chef Kang’s Noodle House is helmed by Chef Ang Song Kang behind MICHELIN-starred Cantonese restaurant Chef Kang’s. The Noodle House itself isn’t entirely new to the MICHELIN Guide, having been listed back in 2019. A warm welcome back, though!

This stall may be tucked away in a nondescript Toa Payoh canteen but it is renowned for their delicious take on wanton mee. Their signature Noodle with Char Siew and Wanton (S$7) features slices of succulent pork belly char siew atop springy “jook sing” noodles imported from Hong Kong.

The stall’s specialty is none other than Penang Assam Laksa (S$4/S$5), with a tangy and aromatic yellowtail fish broth that, as the MICHELIN Guide describes, “works magic” with the noodles.
