We Singaporeans are super passionate about our national dishes. So when news of a Brown Sugar Pearl Crab in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia surfaced, it got many Singaporean foodies talking.
But I’m afraid that wasn’t the last of it.
An online seafood restaurant in Singapore, Shi Fu Ge Seafood Delivery (食福閣), has just come up with a new bizarre crab flavour.
They’ve ‘Frankensteined’ one of our most popular national dishes, chilli crab, and created an Oreo Cheese Crab (S$41)!
Yes, you read that correctly. Instead of the usual chilli crab sauce, they’ve used a thick cheese sauce.
Apparently, it’s a combination of nacho and cheddar cheeses, so expect an extremely creamy mouthful.
And true to its name, a generous sprinkle of Oreo crumbs then completes the dish.
Not only that, but you can also opt for a Bun 馒头 (S$0.60 each) to go with it in true chilli crab style!
For one, I’m rather sceptical if the sweet and savoury combination of flavours would work out. That said, however, if a Century Egg Cheesecake can come across as palatable to some people, what are the odds of this appealing to people too?
