As Antoinette‘s doors close at Mandarin Gallery, another one springs open at Millenia Walk. Its latest outlet brings to the white-collar crowd around Promenade MRT station its fine selection of teas and coffees, and dainty French pastries. There’s even a new Le Menu Sandwich section—offering classic European breads—and Crêpes Salées (also known as savoury crêpes) selection.

Kick-start your morning with an Egg Muffin (S$5) that has warm pork sausage patty blanketed in oozy cheddar cheese.

It’s very similar to a certain fast-food rendition that we all know and love, but this one certainly tasted a lot juicier and provided more texture with its handmade patty.

Their savoury crêpes are mammoth in size, so if you’re not keen on consuming a large portion, these are perfect for sharing. It also gives you a chance to sneak a bite of their oh-so-scrumptious Pure Butter Croissant (S$3.50)!

This one’s the Nordic (S$18)—smoked salmon, red onions, capers, dill cream cheese, and a sunny side up on a buckwheat crêpe. The flavours were familiar and safe, but I can’t deny that smoked salmon with eggs is always a fitting combination for any time of the day. I especially appreciated the generous portion, so there’s no scramble for the last piece.

There’s also the Tokyo (S$18), with roasted chicken, okonomiyaki sauce, mixed cheeses, nori, bonito flakes, and boiled egg. This creative crêpe was rather heavy on the palate, and best shared, even if you’re feeling hungry.

I wanted to enjoy this Japanese-influenced crêpe a lot, but the dry roasted chicken made me reach for my glass of water one too many times.

Sweet tooths out there, I got you covered. You absolutely should order the Ondeh Ondeh Kaya Toast (S$6). An entire slice of butter sits elegantly atop a creamy spread of pandan kaya, before a liberal drizzle of gula melaka crowns the Italian ciabatta.

There’s simply so much satisfaction in a single bite, from the gratifying crunch of toasted ciabatta, to the silky mouthfeel of pandan kaya, and even the smoky-treacle touch of gula melaka. I only wish my conscience wasn’t nagging at me, to stop me from having more than I should.

I know how everything boba is getting out of hand these days, but if you enjoy desserts too much (like me), then the Early Grey Bubble Tea (S$14) sweet soufflé pancake is a shoo-in for your top desserts of the year. What really stood out for me was the cloud-light crème chantilly that juxtaposed the dense, chewy black sugar pearls.

The Earl Grey flavour was present, but still took a back seat in this sugar-driven dessert.

For someone who’s never been to an Antoinette outlet, I was pleased with the simple, yet effective flavours. It certainly left an impression on me, and I’m already yearning to sink my teeth into their Pure Butter Croissant again!
