If you’ve never been through a drive-thru, you definitely should. Convenience is always key when it comes to food, because I get hangry. When I get cravings, I make sure I get what I want as soon as I can.

I have always wished there was a drive-thru for bubble tea in Singapore, and unfortunately, there isn’t any yet. When I heard the news of Tapix Boba Tea launching their first drive-thru boba tea in Japan, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little envious.

The first drive-thru in Japan, Tapix Boba Tea opened their third outlet at Katata, Shiga prefecture on 11 January 2020. Just think about it—how easy will it be to just grab your favourite boba and hit the road?

If you’ve been to Japan, you would notice that public transport is the most accessible and convenient way to travel, and it’s cost-effective too. However, the more rural areas of Japan don’t offer accessible public transport, leaving people to choose between driving or walking. Those looking to travel around the more rural areas thus usually do a road trip.

If you’re planning a road trip in Japan anytime soon, be sure to look out for this interesting and convenient way to satisfy your boba cravings.

Some of the flavours available on Tapix Boba Tea’s menu are Okinawa Brown Sugar Milk (JP¥540/Medium, JP¥660/Large), Uji Matcha Milk (JP¥580/Medium, JP¥700/Large) and their Special Strawberry Milk (JP¥620/Medium, JP¥740/Large). There are also options for you to customise your drink the way you like it, such as additional pearls for JP¥50. You can also choose the sweetness level of your beverage.

If you want to try out this drive-thru boba concept, act fast—opening hours are from 12pm to 7pm but they close once they’re out of tapioca for the boba pearls.
