I’m not sure about you, but I personally feel that brown sugar-flavoured food got famous when people started experimenting with brown sugar bubble tea. When I think of brown sugar-flavoured drinks, my mind immediately goes to The Alley’s Brown Sugar with Fresh Milk drink, which is the first brown sugar beverage I’ve ever tasted.

Now, taking social media by a storm is F&N Magnolia’s limited-edition Brown Sugar Sea Salt Milk. I’m not sure if everyone has a favourite milk brand, but F&N Magnolia sits at one of the top few for me. With this exciting new flavour, I reckon that F&N Magnolia wants to ignite our tastebuds with something similar to bubble tea.

I decided to give it a try to see what all the hype was about, and boy, you should give it a try as well.

The 1-litre packaging featured a splash of brown and white, and a scoop of brown sugar under the prominent F&N Magnolia logo.

As I was pouring the milk into a transparent cup, I noticed that the milk was white. From the previous pictures I saw on F&N Magnolia’s Facebook page, I thought that the milk would be tinted brown.

I tasted a creamy blend of milk, brown sugar and a hint of sea salt, and I was surprised to hear that this beverage was awarded the Healthier Choice symbol by the Health Promotion Board. Higher in calcium, low-fat, lower in sugar and saturated fat, this was spectacular in taste.

It tasted so much like brown sugar bubble tea, I was genuinely impressed by the perfect blend. All that was missing were the tapioca pearls. Lucky for you, we wrote up a super easy recipe for you to make your own tapioca pearls. Try substituting the tea or the milk with this variation—the flavours will definitely be enhanced.
