Apricus Cafe, which is run by the same folks behind Populus Cafe, recently opened its doors for soft launch on 28 July 2022. Located in Sengkang, the cafe offers delicious Western food for its fellow patrons.

THE POPULUS Scramble (S$20) has been a staple at Populus Cafe and is carried over into Apricus Cafe’s menu. It consists of a toasted croissant topped with soft and creamy scrambled eggs that contain marinated feta and a mixture of different fresh herbs. Crispy turkey bacon is plated on top, and gives a savoury and oily edge to the dish.

To elevate the dish, seafood lovers can add Lobster Bisque & Crab Meat Scramble for S$6.

Norwegian Salmon Brown Butter Linguine (S$23) has a generous slab of dukkah (middle-eastern) spiced salmon fillet which goes well with the brown butter linguine. There are dustings of shio kombu dust and spring onions to garnish the dish. To balance out the heaviness of the dish it is served with a fennel and Granny Smith apple slaw.

THE APRICUS Green Bowl (S$19) is the Apricus Cafe’s unique take on a salad. It has Za’atar crusted avocado, zucchini, barley, quinoa and bulgar wheat, nicely charred brussel sprouts, red cabbage and apple slaw, along with roasted butternut squash with yoghurt and herb dressing. With the numerous different ingredients paired well together and plated beautifully, this is a fun take on a traditional salad. For those who want some protein, Chicken Skewers can be added for S$5.

Peanut Butter & Jelly Sundae (S$15) with Buttermilk Waffle (S$5) is an interesting twist on the usual peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It consists of a Niko Neko roasted rice soft serve swirled high ontop of a crispy buttermilk waffle, which is dressed with peanut butter and raspberry sauce, giving a sweet and savoury combination.

The Apricus Cafe serves cafe food with interesting Middle Eastern fusion dishes. If I’m ever in Sengkang, I’ll definitely give the Apricus Cafe a try.
