Potatoes may leave heads scratching as to why a potato salad isn’t just called salad, but there’s no doubt this carb-filled spud grenade is enjoyed by many. Even the adamant vegetable hater can’t say no to potatoes (and yes, they do count as vegetables). If you’ve been nodding your head, then Popotatoe, which recently opened on 7 Dec 2022 at Wisteria Mall, warrants your attention.

Featuring a cute tater logo and jingle, Popotatoe is a potato-themed fast food kiosk that makes full use of the spud’s versatility. It also appears to be a crowd favourite as they were fully sold out on their first day of opening!

First up, you have the Popoboat Classic (S$6.50) which is a near-sinful combination of fried potato with corn, broccoli, eggs, pork and chicken ham topped with a drizzling of nacho cheese sauce. If for some reason that seems little to you, opt for the Popoboat Premium (S$8.50) which has a welcome addition of streaky bacon, chicken sausage and minced beef without the broccoli and corn.

That’s not all— you can even add Chilli Crab Sauce for S$1.

Next is the Popodog (S$5.20) which is a fried potato stick wrapped in chicken sausage and mozzarella cheese. It is then layered with chilli and mayonnaise, and sprinkled with sugar for good measure. There is also the Popoquette (S$4.20), a fried potato croquette filled with minced beef and topped with onion and tonkatsu sauce.

Popotatoe’s take on takoyaki, the Popoball (S$3.80), has pork ham-filled fried potato balls with chilli and mayonnaise sauce sprinkled with bonito flakes. Wash all of that down with a cup of Popodrink (S$3.20) which is a purple sweet potato drink. On that note, I reckon mashed potato milkshakes are just around the corner.

Eating vegetables has just gotten easier and tastier!
