If you prefer old-school confectioneries and enjoy a good cuppa in a cafe environment, Kreme Cafe should warrant your attention. Recently opened on 17 Jan 2023 along Serangoon North Avenue 1, Kreme Cafe provides nostalgic baked goods in a modern cafe setting.

It has big boots to fill as Kreme Cafe has replaced the former Chang Wang Cake Shop which has been around for more than 3 decades with the same owner. Hearsay is that the cafe is currently being run by the son of the former cake shop owner.

You won’t find the usual suspects of stuffed croissants, tiramisus, or cheesecakes here.

Instead, the 2 cakes that are trending now are the Kaya Cake (S$4.20) and Yam Cake (S$4.20). These are layers of sponge cakes that are filled with kaya and yam custards. Other cake options include Chocolate Mousse (S$4.50), U.S.A Chocolate Cake (S$5) and Mango Mousse (S$4.20).

For something lighter, you can have a go at their OG Pandan Cake (S$1.80) and Muffins (S$2.50) which come in different flavours like chocolate and oats. You’ll find other nostalgic bites like Egg Tarts (S$1.80)Apple Pie (S$4.50) and Curry Puff (S$2.20).

Not everything is old-fashioned though as Kreme Cafe also has a modern gelato kiosk. It offers a wide variety of flavours which includes Yuzu SorbetFerrero RocherEarl Grey Lavender and Matcha Azuki Beans.

A single scoop is priced at S$4.50, and a double goes for S$8.50. You can even enjoy your gelato with a Waffle (S$5) or Pandan Waffle (S$5.50). Wash it all down with coffee options such as Mocha (S$4.50) and Black (S$6.50).

I’d say this screams tea time with grandma and grandpa!
