It’s durian season now in Malaysia and Malaysians are going crazy with the selections and variety available. However, this Japanese restaurant in Bangi is pushing the envelope and has introduced a new spin for adventurous durian lovers-Durian Ramen and Durian Sushi!
On 26 May 2023, Hanasaka located in Union Square Bangi Avenue teased on their Instagram about their new Durian Season specials!
Their Hanasaka Durian Roll looks like a normal egg-wrapped maki to the unversed BUT upon closer inspection, the “egg wrap” is actually a fresh and creamy durian layer. The Durian Roll is said to boast the creamy and bold durian taste while still maintaining the freshness a proper sushi brings.

Durian ramen has been taking the Malaysian culinary scene by storm lately. However, will these contradicting combinations of flavours be a treat or a horror story? Said to be for the “adventurous Durian lovers”, Hanasaka also introduced their Smoked Duck Durian Kimchi Ramen!
Who knew one bowl of broth could feature at least 4 different cultures, but does it honour those cultures?
The Smoked Duck Durian Kimchi brings an unexpected flavour combination with the creamy durian essence and the smokiness of the duck. Who would’ve thought?!
Union Square in Bangi Avenue serves as a hangout spot that features cuisines from all over the world, from Western to Thai and even Arabian. This new restaurant “group” is a hit amongst TikTokers as it features yummy food AND convenience! You could order from the Western restaurant and at the same time get some sushi from Hanasaka as well!
