With roots beginning from 1958, Ng Soon Kee Fish & Duck Porridge in Aljunied remains a strong contender in Singapore’s hawker scene until today. The hawker centre recently completed months of renovation and business reopened on 5 Jul 2023.

Dear fans, shocking news awaits you, stay tuned!

Visitors to the food centre have already displayed their surprise to the long queues forming in front of Ng Soon Kee Fish & Duck Porridge. There were even occasions when the duck items were already sold out! This sight alone proves the fame and popularity of the stall.

Despite the renovation works, the prices have remained extremely affordable. The smallest portions start at S$3.50 and go up to S$15 for the largest servings.

The most popular items are the Braised Duck Meat/Wing Porridge which often sell out soon after opening. Customers also love Ng Soon Kee Fish & Duck Porridge’s Mackerel Fish Soup/Porridge which features a clean stock and includes a generous amount of fish slices. Unfortunately, each bowl of soup does not include carbohydrates.

Customers have to order an additional serving of Rice (Large) at an additional S$0.50. As per Auntie’s recommendations, do request for some braised sauce to be poured over the rice for additional flavour.

Unfortunately, I come bearing some news that may upset some hardcore fans. This ‘best in Singapore’ fish soup stall may be considering closing down soon. In a recent Facebook post by an online foodie, 70 plus year-old Uncle and Auntie have been dealing with the physical strains of being hawkers.

With more than 40 years of experience in this business, it is no surprise that health concerns have caught up to the husband and wife duo. In the same post, there was mention of a possibility of selling the business to another sincere individual.

Regardless of the final outcomes, do head down to Ng Soon Kee Fish & Duck Porridge early to support the team!
